Stellar specialize in small group heli skiing. Their packages range from a single day of shredding to multi-day custom adventures. They only operate in small groups with a B3 A-Star helicopter which means they can be more agile and venture into more interesting terrain.

Stellar sees over 18 meters (60ft) of snowfall each year, and the snow they ski is some of the deepest and driest in the world. With terrain rising to over 3,000 meters, guests are able to ski/ride open bowls, high alpine peaks, and magnificent old growth forests that are suited for everyone, whether you are a first time backcountry skier or expert powder rider. All of this terrain is just a short helicopter ride away!

Stellar focuses on full service and unforgettable experiences for small groups in incredible terrain. For the ultimate in enjoyment and safety, Stellar offers a group ratio of one guide to every four guests. The A-Star helicopter is fast and powerful, allowing us the speed and agility to get into more elaborate terrain and provide your guide the ability to choose from many different run styles to suit the specific needs and desires of each group.

Kaslo is on the western shoreline of Kootenay Lake and surrounded by the mighty Purcell and Selkirk mountain ranges. The Kootenays are known for their laid back vibe, friendly people, and an uncontainable love of mountain culture. You can't help be relaxed – and stoked – when you're spending time here. It feels genuine, and far removed from the glitzy hype of many resort towns. The Kaslo Hotel is the heart of town and offers incredible views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Ability

Intermediate to expert skiers who have prior powder experience. If you in a group of four we can tailor the day to the group.

Stellar typically ski what would be black diamonds or double black diamonds at your local ski resort and some blue squares. You should be comfortable skiing various terrain and trees.

The Terrain

We have 7 different zones in 2 different mountain ranges separated by Kootenay Lake. Tree runs, alpine bowls, pillow lines, steeps and more mellow: we've got it all.

We have 125,000 acres of untouched terrain to choose from. Open bowls, high alpine peaks, and steep old growth forests await you. Guides will decide where we ski based on conditions and weather. You may start the day in the alpine and transition to skiing trees in the afternoon. Heliskiing is a weather dependent sport... Mother Nature will guide us in our backcountry terrain selections.

About the Lodge

Stellar Heliskiing is located in the charming mountain town of Kaslo, British Columbia. Situated on Highway 31, along the western shoreline of Kootenay Lake, surrounded by the mighty Purcell and Selkirk mountain ranges. Known for its relaxed atmosphere and friendly people, Kaslo is the perfect place to kick back after a full day of powder skiing. Their large, spacious rooms feature high ceilings and walk-out balconies, bringing to mind a European Chateau. The penthouse-level suites offer self-contained kitchen units with ample room to really relax. Outside, the mountain and lake vistas inspire and invite you to get out and explore.
