Mt Cook Heliskiing operates in the Aoraki Mt Cook region of New Zealand's South Island, surrounded by the Southern Alps and some of the country's highest peaks.
The remote alpine environment provides access to terrain well beyond the boundaries of New Zealand's commercial ski resorts.
Southern Alps – Six mountain ranges across the Mt Cook heli-ski area, with terrain extending from Aoraki Mt Cook National Park to the Ben Ohau Range.
Intermediate to Advanced. Heli-skiing requires strong off-piste skiing or snowboarding ability and confidence skiing varied terrain and snow conditions.
Previous heli-skiing experience is not necessarily required, but guests should be comfortable skiing ungroomed terrain and maintaining control in changing snow conditions. Specific ability requirements may vary depending on the program and conditions.

The terrain ranges from open powder bowls and rolling terrain through to steep alpine terrain and glaciated runs.
Over 200 named runs across New Zealand's largest heli-ski area, with an average run of around 800 vertical metres and descents of up to 1,300 metres. The terrain includes glaciers, powder basins, snowy ridges, open bowls and steep alpine faces.
