The operation is family-owned and based out of Klængshóll Lodge, situated at the edge of the mountains, with helicopters departing minutes from the lodge. Next brings you to one of the last true frontiers of skiing on Greenland's remote east coast, where legendary guide and explorer Kevin Boekholt leads you into terrain few have ever seen.

The region of Ammassalik covers an area of approximately 250,000 km² and is well known for its jagged peaks, deep fjords, and unique Inuit culture that was only interrupted about a hundred years ago by European explorers for the first time.

Ski untouched snow capped peaks, towering over the frozen landscapes of icebergs, fjords, and islands.

The nature of the area is also spectacular with a large number of marine mammals such as whales, seals, and polar bears roaming this majestic region.

The Greenland portion of the program is run out of Hotel Kulusuk on the island of Kulusuk in eastern Greenland, with the hotel situated right on the edge of the best ski terrain. Some of the closest runs are only minutes away.

2026 will be their 22nd season of operations in Greenland.

Mountain Range

In Iceland the mountain range is the Troll Peninsula, which is located in the Skíðadalur Valley in northern Iceland. Arctic Heli Skiing in Greenland primarily operates in the Angmagssalik/Tasiilaq region of East Greenland, with bases in Kulusuk and Tasiilaq.

Ability

It depends on a few things such as your group and program, but every skier needs to be a fit intermediate skier and be able to ski under control in off-piste terrain. Previous heli ski experience is NOT required.

Keep in mind that heli skiing does require a certain basic level of physical fitness to minimize risk and be enjoyable. We recommend that you have the basic core strength to ski in a variety of conditions. The best training you can do for skiing is skiing. It is best not to go into any extended trip without finding the time to get in a few days of skiing in advance to make sure that your feet are conditioned to your boots. We recommend that you are able to do the following:

• Ski fall line in most snow conditions (powder to wind affected snow)
• Make parallel or stem-christie turns on 35° groomed or firm snow
• Side-slip on firm slopes up to 35°
• Ski black diamond runs at ski areas efficiently and in most snow conditions

Typical Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival Day

Late morning flight from Keflavik airport in Iceland (KEF) to Kulusuk Greenland where we will arrive around noon. The 1.5hr flight from Iceland can offer amazing views of the east coast as we approach. On the ground in Greenland we will meet up with our guides and be taken to the Kulusuk Hotel only minutes away from the airport. Once settled in, we will go over the week's agenda with our guides, be briefed on local conditions as well as receive the avalanche safety training and emergency procedures briefing before heading out for our first afternoon of skiing.

Day 2-7

First descents, adventure and exploration is the name of the game. Every day we will get the chance to fly out over frozen fjords and ski amazing lines right down to the white sheet of the pack ice where your helicopter awaits. On our flights to and from skiing each day we might even spot a polar bear roaming the rugged beauty of the Greenlandic landscape. Evenings and nights are spent in the comforts of Hotel Kulusuk where we may get the chance to sample some local cuisine as well as enjoy performances by local drum dancers.

Day 8 Departure Day

We pack our bags, say our goodbyes but we are already thinking about returning to the magic mountains of Greenland. Our flight back to Iceland leaves around 13:00 and we arrive in Keflavik around 17:30 hrs. A night in Keflavik or nearby Reykjavik might be required as most international flights will have left by the time we arrive in Iceland.

PLEASE NOTE: Greenland can be very unpredictable in terms of weather. It is a remote location with few means of transportation to and from the country. Please be advised that flights can be delayed and you should be prepared to be flexible with your dates or at least be prepared to be delayed on arrival or departure.

About the Lodges

KLÆNGSHÓLL LODGE (Iceland)

Klængshóll Lodge in Skíðadalur is the base of Arctic Heli Skiing. The lodge can accommodate 16 guests. There are 4 cabins on the property that are made up of 2 apartments each, so a total of 8 apartments. Each apartment has a queen size bed in an upstairs loft and a full bed downstairs with an ensuite bathroom. The apartments comfortably sleep 2 adults either sharing a queen bed in the loft or one guest upstairs and one downstairs. The original farmhouse on the property is where meals are served. The "barn" is where guests equipment is kept and includes a bar, a pool table, dartboard, and general area where aprés ski snacks are served and guests can gather after a great day of skiing. Next to the barn is the AHS gift shop and guides meeting room.

SINGLE ROOM OPTIONS:

Our Klængshóll packages are based on double occupancy in our cabins. In addition, there are 2 single rooms with a shared bathroom in the main house and 1 master suite with ensuite bathroom. These single rooms can be used to accommodate single guests when a single cabin is not available. Single Cabin supplement fee (based on availability) €300-€350/night.

HOTEL HJALTEYRI (Iceland)

During the ski season Arctic Heli Skiing partners with the boutique Hotel Hjalteyri (located between Akureyri and Dalvík) for our Ultimate Private program. There is a hot tub and sauna and all rooms have ensuite bathrooms. Hjalteyri can also be used for the Private and Premium programs when Klængshóll is at full capacity.

KARLSÁ LODGE (Iceland)

Depending on group size and availability Karlsá lodge is used for our exclusive heli programs as well as ski touring programs. It has 7 bedrooms and 4 separate bathrooms as well as 4 showers. There is an outdoor sauna and hot tub as well as a heli pad.

KULUSUK HOTEL (Greenland)

We stay at the Kulusuk Hotel in Greenland, based on single accommodation. Kulusuk is a small village with limited accommodation so this is the only settlement hotel available in the area, and while it is a basic hotel it is comfortable and well managed as well as offering amazing views of the area.
